Palmer & Krisel Home in Corbin Palms Asks $1.2 Million
A glass-filled gable, a low roofline and palms framing the entrance give 19805 Hamlin Street an unmistakable midcentury presence. The 1954 Woodland Hills home is offered at $1.2 million, bringing another property in Corbin Palms to market with its architectural identity front and center.
A Valley starting point for the Alexander modern
Corbin Palms belongs to an early chapter in the collaboration between architects Dan Palmer and William Krisel and developer George Alexander. A Los Angeles Cultural Heritage Commission report describes the subdivision's four phases in 1953 and 1954 and identifies it as their first collaboration, preceding later tract developments in Palm Springs and elsewhere.
The neighborhood's variety came from a limited set of plans, adapted through changes in rooflines, elevations and placement. That approach gave repeated houses individual street identities while bringing modern architecture to suburban tract development. The city's report concerns a separate house at 6134 Jumilla Avenue; it provides neighborhood context rather than a historic designation for this Hamlin Street property.
Modern updates behind the glass
The listing describes a single-story post-and-beam plan with high ceilings, expansive glazing and a fireplace anchoring the living areas. Renovations include a contemporary kitchen and updated bathrooms. Outside, a deck, mature planting and grapefruit, orange, kumquat and fig trees extend the living space into the garden. A two-car garage completes the offering. These improvements are described by the seller's listing.
At the entrance, the triangular band of glass beneath the roof remains the defining feature. The landscaping softens the frontage, but the geometry still does the work: a broad horizontal house with a bright volume rising at its center.
Another Hamlin Street chapter
The blog covered another renovated Corbin Palms home at 19705 Hamlin Street in August 2026, and featured 19737 Hamlin Street back in 2012. Those earlier posts document different houses and earlier market moments. This offering continues the neighborhood story: familiar midcentury forms being adapted for present-day living.
