Back on March 13, 2015, the always hilarious, Your Mama, at Variety Realestalker revealed that legendary British producer and musician, Dave Stewart, of the 80's hit band, Eurythmics, purchased a historic and celebrity filled Toluca Lake home (shown above) for $5.550 million on March 2, 2015. (Later on, I will discuss the home currently for sale).

Stewart first met lead singer Annie Lennox (who also owned an Encino home in the 80's that was recently purchased by Howie Mandel) in late 1976 and became romantically involved. By 1977, they teamed up with Peet Coombes and formed The Catch. They later became known as The Tourists and then by the early 80's were known as the Eurythmics. The group is best known for their second album, Sweet Dreams (Are Made of This) released in 1983 with the title track a worldwide hit. By 1990, they split up but with numerous awards and more than 75 million records sold worldwide. They later reunited like most bands do in 1999 - 2005 and 2014. See the video below for the most famous hit song.

Now moving onto the home which measures 5 Beds/6 Baths on 4,761 sqft on a total lot size of 0.61 acres built in 1927. The listing description states:
Santa Barbara style authentic & chic Spanish estate with two significant guest buildings/offices. Hip interior, impressive entry, walled & private, this is one of the select homes built on Lakeside golf course & one of the original Toluca Lake homes built by Toluca Lake pioneer and designer W. Klump. Famous for Howard Hughes/silent movie star Billy Dove ownership & the Greta Garbo/Janet Gaynor fight to win the house, this compound is rich with entertainment industry/celebrity gatherings and documented history. Recently restored/renovated. Celeb heavy neighborhood, minutes from the studios and networks, 5 minutes into Hollywood.
According to the listing, the home was built and designed by William Klump whose home was also featured on this site here and here. Hollywood's elite also had a piece of this property with Howard Hughes and silent film star Billie Dove  owning it. Later Greta Garbo and Janet Gaynor battled for the property but dont know who actually owned it. Also, Your Mama noticed that it was also owned by sitcom producer Mark Brazill (whose other homes have been featured here) who purchased in the mid-90's and later sold to film and TV producer, Laura McCorkindale in 2006 for $4.5 million.

Moving onto Stewart's previous home, also in Toluca Lake, which is currently listed for $4,499,000 as of April 27, 2015 with no buyers at the time of writing this post. Your Mama at the Realestalker also first revealed this property's listing on April 28, 2015. The home measures 4 Beds/4.25 Baths on 5,426 sqft on a total lot size of 0.26 acres built in 1929. The listing description states:
This Spanish-style retreat was home to Toluca Lake's original architect Park French and features 4 beautiful bedrooms-3 of which are en suite-and 5 baths. Gorgeous wood floors and highlights throughout give the home a rustic charm. In addition to the living, family and dining rooms, there's a breakfast room, library, soundproof media room and steam room. The bright kitchen features a Viking stove and sub-zero fridge. The lush grounds boast a heated pool, organic herb garden, heated dining terrace and covered exercise deck. A gated dog area connects to a 2-car garage with a washer-dryer area and built-in storage. Modern amenities, such as a filtered water system and backup generator in case of a black-out, are married to classic features like a wood-burning fireplace and original stained glass windows, making this stunning property the perfect combination of vintage and contemporary. Ownership comes with a boat mooring and private access to Toluca Lake Residential Garden & Lake.

And moving onto Stewart's other SFV property which was located in Encino that was owned sometime during the 80's and 90's but not really sure when it was exactly purchased and sold. The home was located next door to Lennox (now owned by Howie Mandel). The last transaction on the property was a sale on October 31, 1994 for $1.3 million which might be Stewart selling.  The home was later torn down and built new in 2007. The current home measures 6 Beds/8 Baths on 8,604 sqft on a total lot size of 1.25 acres.

Additionally, there are a few stories online describing how Encino resident, Tom Petty, recommended Stewart purchase a home who happened to buy a block down from Petty. After the house was purchased, Stewart kept adding onto the home susposedly without permits and even added a recording studio. There are also stories about how the two would party at each other's house. And lastly, there is a story of Annie Lennox hanging out at Stewart's home when Petty's house was set on fire on an early 1987 morning by arsonists and providing clothes after Petty lost everything.
