William Klump's Toluca Lake Estate Built in 1926 with Basement Sells For $2.2 million

[Update November 5, 2013]: This home was flipped back on the market on November 1, 2013 for $3,875,000 which was stripped of all of its original features shown below. You can read the post for the flip here

[Original Post]:
5 Beds/2 Baths on 3,746sqft on a total lot size of 0.45 acres built in 1926 in Toluca Lake. The home appears to be original with "3 famous Batchelder fierplaces and hi barrell ceiling & windows." There is also a basement which I thought only existed in the midwest. The home was owned by what the listing describes as one of the Toluca Lake Pioneers, William Klump. Below is his obituary from the LA Times (I was proud to discover that Klump graduated from my alumni, CSUN):
KLUMP, William Sandifur Born on May 3, 1944 in Los Angeles to Ralph and Mae Klump. Lifelong resident of Toluca Lake passed away on April 15, 2009. Survived by wife Anne, son Chris and daughter-in-law Kim, daughter Debi and son-in-law Tom, and grandchildren Jack and Ian. Graduate of California State University, Northridge (BA) and the UCLA Anderson School of Business (MBA). Real estate property manager of 40 years, faithful little league baseball coach, steadfast Dodgers fan and was an accomplished and avid golfer. A lover of Yosemite, its wildlife and miles of pristine hiking trails, woodworker and gardener. He delighted in all things bright and beautiful, all creatures great and small, all things wise and wonderful for the Lord God made them all.
From the listing:

This home has had difficulty selling in the past as it was first listed on July 18, 2010 for $3 million, then $2,950,000 on March 4, 2011, $2,655,000 on December 12, 2011, $2,500,000 on January 29, 2012, $2,350,000 on July 28, 2012, and finally $2.2 million on November 1, 2012. This home appears to have sold for $2.2 million on December 31, 2012 but I am not sure if that is accurate.

I cant even imagine what was paid for this home whenever it was acquired back in 1923. But just for ballparks sake, if I use the inflation calculator using $2.2 million for the 2012 price, then the 1923 equivalent is $163,408. Something tells me it was even less than that.

William Klump also owns the home next door (shown with the 'A" marker) that was built in 1967 containing 3 Beds and 3 Baths on 2,208 sqft which is currently not for sale.
