Anything and everything about the San Fernando Valley. This blog will take you back in time when the valley was covered with dirt and orange groves to a leader in the space race to its current status as America's suburb. Come along and join me on this adventure, I guarantee you have been influenced/impacted by the San Fernando Valley in one form or another even if you have never visited or heard of the SFV.
I remember working at the Seafood Broiler in Glendale, CA when it first opened up in 1976 or 77. I had applied at 16 yrs old as a busboy and got hired as a cook and butcher (for fish market) and trained in the Tarzana Store. It was a good place to work and food was good. I use to cook all sorts of fish on a big barbecue surrounded by glass out there among the customers. Fridays I worked the fish market and we use to cut up smoked albacore with tartar sauce and set it our for the customers who were waiting to be seated. Weekends frequently saw lines outside the restaurant that took 1 hr to 2 hrs to seat.
