Original 1952 Reseda Home Planned for 27 Unit Apartment Complex

Listing image courtesy Rodeo Realty
This latest hearing notice calls for a 27 unit apartment complex replacing an original 1952 Reseda home (7008 Baird Ave) that appears to need major upgrading. The home measured 2 Beds/2.25 Baths over 2,291 sqft on a total lot size of 0.38 acres that was sold on June 12, 2014 for $540K to Alko Reseda LLC which is linked to a Kobi and Yacov Serazi of Calabasas.

The apartment will be 4 stories with one level of subterranean parking which includes 41 parking spots. I feel sorry for the nearby neighbors as any available street parking will be non-existent although being next to Reseda Blvd might bring some options. Also, one has to wonder if this will start a domino effect where other nearby large lots are also converted to apartments.

  1. Some background that was found out by the Reseda Neighbourhood Council PLUM committee. This house was built by William Lauesen, who along with Lee Miller, pretty much founded Reseda and made it a success. It was his personal residence and the last house he built in Reseda. Next door to this house was one of the oldest homes in Reseda, a two story Spanish colonial in relatively original condition, which was identified as having historical significance by Survey LA. Both structures have been torn down by the property owner without letting the public have any say as to whether their historic significance was of value to the community.

  2. Hamir, thanks for the clarifying info. Hate to see these properties destroyed but that is the reality these days.

  3. The developer is at it again, now trying to build a 5-story apartment building on this site. Please join the efforts to stop this build. Please attend the PLUM meeting on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. and email your info to stopthebairdproject@gmail.com to get together and fight for a more responsible development.
