Suge Knight's Homes in the SFV and Beyond

Suge Knight is back in the news for a possible murder charge which could possibly land him in jail for life considering this will be a third strike against him. Its hard to believe that the rap mogul was running a $100 million studio in the early 90's where his mob tactics defined his reputation. Suge tried to bring his gangsta style management to corporate America and it only lasted for so long. Prior to the arrest, Suge was living a luxurious lifestyle with every amenity available at a moments notice unitl 2Pac passed leading to a serious decline marked with jail time, child support payments, and barely making ends meet. This is all contrasted with his partner who helped found Death Row, Dr. Dre., who is close to a billionaire after the sale of his headphones company, Beats by Dre.

Today's post takes a look back at the homes previously owned by Suge Knight with a few in the SFV.

1617 E Orchard Street Compton (shown above). The home measures 3 Beds/2 Baths on 1,604 sqft on a total lot size of 9,332sqft built in 1947. The purchase price and date is unknown but could possibly be Suge's early childhood home where his mom lived. The property was eventually sold in foreclosure on April 12, 2010 for $170,000 with unpaid debt of $372,026.65. The property sold again on April 19, 2011 for $165,000 and again on May 4, 2012 for $245,000.

11206 Hulme Avenue Lynwood (shown above). The home measures 3 Beds/2 Baths on 1,534 sqft on a total lot size of 6,586 sqft built in 1948. Suge and his mom, Maxine, purchased on December 10, 1993 for $160,000. This is where property records get sketchy as the property was sold on March 15, 2001 for $1,000 (which seems odd) from Suge's sister, Karen Anderson, and her husband, Norris Anderson (who would be the general manager of Death Row Records when Suge was in jail) to Suge's ex-girlfriend, Tammie Hawkins (who recently asked for child support payments for the son back in January 2010). Somehow the property transferred back to Karen Anderson on February 26, 2004 who has remained the owner ever since.

8605 7th Street Downey (shown above). The home measures 4 Beds/3.25 Baths on 2,765 sqft on a total lot size of 9,690 sqft built in 1957. The property was purchased by Suge and his mom Maxine on January 12, 1995 for $370,000 and later sold on April 19, 2006 for $950,000 to Suge's sister, Charlinda Tubbs. This property was sold again as a short sale for $475,000 on September 27, 2011. In the most recent listing pictures (bottom right above), there is a large mural of Suge Knight over the fireplace.

4808 Brewster Drive Tarzana (shown above). The home measures 4 Beds/5 Baths on 4,590 sqft on a total lot size of 0.91 acres built in 1953. Last sold on May 21, 1997 for $840,000. The property records are sketchy but it appears that Suge sold on July 28, 2000 for $73,500 which contradicts the sale price just mentioned in 1997. It appears that Suge owned in the early 90's but not sure of the exact purchase price and date.

16030 Jeanne Lane Encino (shown above). The home measures 7 Beds/10 Baths on 10,510 sqft on a total lot size of 1.82 acres built in 1965 (listing description below). Suge purchased in what appears to be either April 27, 1994 for $1,402,500 or October 14, 1994 for $1.8 million. The property records get sketchy here (sounds familiar) as it was later transferred to his ex-girlfriend Tammie Hawkins  on October 27, 2000. Shortly afterwards the property sold for $1,000 on November 20, 2006 and a month later at a foreclosure auction on December 8, 2006 for $4,498,124. This property last sold for $3.3 million on April 28, 2011.

6980 Monte Rosa Avenue Las Vegas (located a block from McCarran International Airport shown above). The home measures 6 Beds/6.5 Baths on 5,215 sqft on a total of 1.05 acres built in 1992 (listing description below). The property was purchased by Suge on April 29, 1996 for $1,625,000 at the peak of Death Row Records. The property was later sold or transferred to his ex-wife Michel'le Toussant (married in 1999 with a daughter born in 2002) on May 19, 1998 for $1.2 million representing a $425,000 loss. However, on October 21, 2004, the property was sold by Michel'le for $1.2 million during a time when Death Row was on the verge of bankruptcy. Michel'le was a former rapper that started on World Class Wreckin' Cru with one of the original members being Dr. Dre who was also Michel'le's boyfriend at the time. Later on, Dr. Dre and Michel'le signed with Easy-E's Ruthless Records who eventually landed at Death Row Records. Today, you can find Michel'le on TV One's R&B Divas LA. On a related note, this home was searched by Las Vegas Metro Police on November 14, 2002. Also, this home was used in the Robert DeNiro film, Casino

8243 Thoroughbred Street Rancho Cucamonga (shown above). The home measures 4 Beds/2.5 Baths on 2,389 sqft on a total lot size of 0.47 acres built in 1990. I am not sure if/when Suge acquired this property which would be sometime in the 90's but a sale did take place on September 7, 1990. However, property records show a transfer to Tammie Hawkins on January 26, 2001 which may have been a transfer from Suge with the familiar odd sale transaction in the amount of $10,000. Today, it is available as a short sale for $700,000 which was first listed on November 13, 2014.

3229 Rambla Pacifico Street Malibu (shown above). The home measures 7 Beds/9.5 Baths on 8,272 sqft on a total lot size of 6.65 acres built in 2001. The property was purchased by Suge in April 2002 for $3,750,000. Property records also show that Suge transferred this property to Michel'le Toussant on July 10, 2002. On July 22, 2004, a Federal tax lien of $8,491,501.39 was assigned against this property. On April 7, 2005, Suge was assigned a Federal tax lien against this property for $7,918,475.75. Eventually, the property was sold through bankruptcy court on November 21, 2008 for $4,560,000. This propety was also discussed at the WSJ and Variety Realestalker

11264 Morrison Street #301 North Hollywood (shown above). Suge may have stayed at this apartment as a hideaway or for girlfriends but the details and records are not available since this is a rental so take it with a grain of salt.
