The late Malcolm-Jamal Warner’s former home in the Studio City hills sold for $1.6 million in May, bringing a decades-long connection between the actor and the property to a close. The residence is at 3671 Alta Mesa Drive.
Warner died on July 20, 2025, at age 54 while vacationing in Costa Rica.
TMZ’s September 9 report connects a $1.6 million Studio City sale to the dispute over Warner’s estate.
The Alta Mesa identification comes from matching that sale with the home’s listing history and BlockShopper’s older ownership entry, which names Malcolm Jamal Warner as trustee and the Warner Family Trust.
A hillside home with three levels and canyon views
Built in 1987, the house was marketed with four bedrooms, three-and-a-half bathrooms and 2,859 square feet on approximately 0.28 acres. Its three-level layout includes an elevated entry, a living room with high windows, and a kitchen with granite counters and a six-burner range.

Warner’s connection goes back to 1994
Showbiz Cheat Sheet’s July 2025 profile reported that Warner bought his longtime Studio City home in 1994 for $470,000 and later offered it as a rental. That purchase year and price match the Alta Mesa property’s recorded history.
The property’s rental history includes listings in 2022 and 2023.
By then, Warner was already living in Atlanta. According to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution, he moved there in the late 2010s while working on The Resident and stayed after the series ended in 2023.
Best known as Theo Huxtable on The Cosby Show, Warner also appeared in Malcolm & Eddie and The Resident. His Studio City home provides a local connection to a career that extended across several generations of television.
From a $2.288 million asking price to a May sale
