Longtime readers may remember our 2012 Back to the Future visit to Melody Land, which traced how an Elvis tribute performer brought his admiration for the King home to Parthenia Street. More than fourteen years later, there is another chapter to add.

The property last sold for $2.58 million on January 13, 2026, according to Redfin’s sale history. The new asking price is $108,888 above that sale, an increase of about 4.2 percent in a little over eight months.

Property records cited for this update appear to connect the current owner to Irvine, although that connection has not been independently confirmed. The home may have been rented out during this brief ownership, but its rental use also remains unconfirmed. With the property returning to market after a purchase in January of this year, one wonders whether the owner had a change of heart. The timing suggests a possible change of plans, but the reason for selling is not known.

Building the Valley’s Own Graceland

Danny U’s connection went well beyond decorating a house with Elvis memorabilia. The December 25, 1988 Los Angeles Times clipping traces the project to a property he purchased in 1986, with construction beginning in 1987. He sent his contractor to Memphis to study Graceland, then brought its spirit to Parthenia Street with a Georgian-style facade and elaborate musical gates.

The idea quickly traveled beyond Los Angeles. The Lexington Herald-Leader on December 27, 1988, and The Wichita Eagle on January 3, 1989, described gates shaped like an open music book, decorated with guitar players and musical notes. Both accounts also recorded his promise that Melody Land would be a private home rather than a daily tourist attraction.

A May 17, 1989 Times feature connected the ambitious house to his stage career. Promoting an Anaheim appearance, Danny U described a show inspired by Elvis’s 1973 Hawaii concert, backed by a 16-piece orchestra. The article reported his claim that Elvis had seen him perform in Las Vegas in 1973. Meanwhile, the house was still under construction, with a planned room for his memorabilia collection.

By August 16, 1991—the fourteenth anniversary of Presley’s death—Melody Land was ready for its unveiling. The following day’s Times coverage, “Elvis of Suburbia,” captured neighbors, fans and television cameras at the house after four years of construction. Its photographs preserve the facade, the crowd at the entrance and Danny U greeting visitors.

Earthquake Damage, Fan Tours and a Possible Return

The 1994 Northridge earthquake badly damaged Melody Land. The May 23, 1996 clipping, “All Fixed Up,” follows Danny U’s effort to restore it and move home after more than two years away. The house had become a gathering place for fans, and rebuilding meant restoring that part of his life as well.

On August 17, 1997, the Times returned for “Next Best Thing to Graceland.” Visitors queued for tours, admired the memorabilia and shared their own Elvis memories. The report described annual openings on January 8 and August 16, along with a Jungle Room and the heart-shaped pool. It also reported that Danny U, then 42, was ending his impersonation career with a performance at the Thousand Oaks Civic Arts Plaza. He chose to stop at 42 in tribute to Elvis, who died at that age, and said he intended to pursue acting and record his own music.

The August 19, 1997 Daily Gleaner clipping adds a broader view of that anniversary’s Elvis enthusiasm: its photograph identifies Danny Uwnawich alongside fellow impersonator John Barton, exchanging autographs. It is a reminder that Melody Land belonged to a much larger world of performers and fans keeping Presley’s memory alive.

Uwnawich sold the home in 2002, according to Lauren Beale’s September 7, 2008 Times report, “In the San Fernando Valley, Elvis lives.” That later clipping supplies an intriguing twist: the listing agent said Danny U was in escrow to buy it back, then listed at $999,000. The report documents a planned return, but does not establish that the purchase closed.

Acting credits: His Elvis persona also reached television. IMDb credits him as Elvis in a November 21, 1992 episode of The Edge. A reported self-appearance in the documentary Viva Elvis (1991) remains unconfirmed for this update.

His current whereabouts have not been confirmed. An unverified property-record lead supplied for this update suggests his most recent home ownership may have been in Las Vegas from 2020 to 2025. We have not independently confirmed that the records refer to the same Danny Uwnawich, or that this was his last home. Possible periods living in Burbank and Scottsdale, Arizona, also remain unconfirmed.

He would be around 70 today—roughly in his early seventies based on the ages reported in the archival coverage—but his exact age has not been independently verified. These leads should not be read as confirmation of where he currently lives.

If the Las Vegas connection is correct, it is an intriguing place for Danny U’s story to lead. One has to wonder whether he ever quietly returned to performing as Elvis, perhaps anonymously on the streets or in a casino. That is only speculation; we have found no evidence that he resumed performing after his announced retirement. Hopefully, we will hear about Danny U again and learn what became of the man behind the Valley’s own Graceland.
