Betsey Johnson is ready to hand over the keys to a Hidden Hills hideaway that feels far more quiet-luxury than hot pink.
The celebrated fashion designer has listed the guard-gated estate for $7,499,999. The current MLS describes a recently rebuilt and reimagined single-story contemporary with five bedrooms, 4.5 bathrooms and approximately 4,300 square feet on nearly 1.5 acres.

Johnson built her career on bright color, playful prints, dramatic embellishment and the cartwheels that became a signature ending to her runway shows. The Hidden Hills residence takes a noticeably more restrained approach: warm wood, black stone, broad walls of glass and a neutral palette that lets the surrounding landscape do most of the talking.
That contrast may be the home’s most interesting feature. It is polished rather than theatrical, but still has the scale and visual moments expected of a designer’s retreat.
A 1957 Ranch Rebuilt for Modern Living
Although public records trace the property to 1957, the current listing markets the house as recently rebuilt and reimagined. Custom wood cathedral ceilings bring warmth overhead, while stone and wood floors continue the understated material palette.
The floor plan is organized around a large great room that connects the living, dining and family areas to a center-island kitchen. A set of approximately 25-foot Fleetwood pocket doors can disappear into the wall, opening the interior almost completely to the backyard.
Additional listing features include high ceilings, built-ins, a wine cellar, walk-in closets, a primary-bedroom fireplace, a smart-home system, solar power and an attached two-car garage.
The Kitchen as the Centerpiece
The kitchen is not tucked away as a service space. Instead, it occupies the center of the open plan, with a black stone island, warm wood cabinetry and bar seating facing the main entertaining areas. Sculptural pendant lights and a second bubble-like chandelier over the dining table give the otherwise subdued interior a little of Johnson’s trademark theatrical energy.
From the kitchen and dining room, the view extends through black-framed windows and doors to mature landscaping, lawns and the mountains beyond. The result is a home that reads as both intimate and expansive.
Poolside Living With an Equestrian Twist
The upper grounds function like a private resort, with a pool, spa, wood decks, broad lawns and a covered outdoor living room positioned to take advantage of the city-light and mountain views.
Then there is the feature that makes the estate unmistakably Hidden Hills: a lower-level equestrian center with a four-stall barn, tack and feed rooms and a corral. The arrangement gives the property two distinct identities—part contemporary retreat and part working horse property.
A Direct Kardashian Connection
Johnson’s estate has more than a neighborhood connection to the famous family. According to Robb Report, the property was once owned by the Kardashian family and sits next door to Kim Kardashian’s expansive Hidden Hills home.
That history places the property directly within the family’s long-running Hidden Hills real-estate story. SFV Blog recently covered Kris Jenner’s former Kardashian family home returning to the market and previously followed Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s purchase of the rebuilt former Lisa Marie Presley estate, their later acquisition of a neighboring ranch, and the Studio City mansion used as the family’s television exterior.
Together, those properties helped make Hidden Hills real estate part of the Kardashian-Jenner family’s public story and brought national attention to the quiet equestrian city.
Johnson’s Short Ownership Window
Public records indicate that Johnson acquired the home for $6.85 million in April 2025. The new asking price is approximately $650,000—or about 9.5 percent—above that purchase price before commissions, carrying costs and any work completed during her ownership.
That relatively short hold makes the listing especially notable. Rather than representing a decades-long celebrity residence, it is a quick return to market for a property that had already undergone a major reinvention.
Why Public-Record Sites May Show Different Numbers
The difference appears to reflect the property’s more recent reconstruction and expanded configuration, but buyers should independently confirm permitted square footage, bedroom counts and other material facts with the listing brokerage and local records.
From a Pink Malibu Trailer to Hidden Hills
The Hidden Hills home is a sharp stylistic departure from Johnson’s famously colorful mobile home in Malibu’s Paradise Cove. She sold that pink retreat in 2019 for nearly $2 million after spending more than $500,000 transforming it into a whimsical two-bedroom sanctuary filled with saturated color, rugs, antiques and an outdoor bathtub.
Her current listing is almost the opposite: quiet, neutral and architecturally disciplined. Even so, the dramatic ceilings, walls of glass, resort grounds and dedicated horse facilities give the house plenty of personality where it counts.
A Distinctive Hidden Hills Offering
At nearly $7.5 million, the next owner would be buying more than a remodeled ranch. The package combines guard-gated privacy, modern indoor-outdoor living, panoramic views and an unusually complete equestrian setup within one of the western San Fernando Valley’s most recognizable celebrity enclaves.
