Fresh on the MLS is the home of Al Ruscio, best known for his character actor roles, in Encino for $509K on March 23, 2015. Ruscio might not be a household name but he has a recognizable face that has appeared in 100's of TV shows and films.
During the 80's and 90's, he practically appeared on every popular TV show like Hart to Hart, Taxi, Police Squad!, T.J. Hooker, Highway to Heaven, The A-Team, St. Elsewhere, Who's the Boss, Matlock, Sledge Hammer!, Night Court, MacGyver, Growing Pains, Beverly Hills, 90210, The Wonder Years, and the pilot for Seinfeld to name a few. Ruscio also appeared in The Godfather: Part III (1990), Showgirls (1995), and The Phantom (1996). His list of appearances is too long to list which can be viewed at IMDB and Wikipedia.
On November 12, 2013, Ruscio passed away at the age of 89 due to his declining health in his Encino home. A month later, his wife, Kate who married in 1954, passed away on December 6, 2013. Ruscio is survived by his 4 children with 3 of them working in show business. You can read obituaries at Today.com, Variety, and NY Daily News.
The home measures 2 Beds/1 Baths on 1,266 sqft on 5,510 sqft built in 1949. The listing description states:
This home was much loved for decades by the previous owner and will make an equally wonderful home for the next lucky occupants! It's an expanded 2 bedroom home with a large family room addition at the rear. The location is fantastic with close proximity to schools, shopping and freeway access. Lots of windows bathe the interior in natural light while large shade trees protect the home from the heat of the afternoon sun. An abundance of south facing roof space makes this home a perfect candidate for a solar energy upgrade. Hardwood floors throughout and fresh paint make this home a great place to update while you live in it. The green grassy yard features mature flowering landscaping and plentiful privacy with tall hedges to separate you from the neighbors.
The purchase price and date is unknown but based on taxes paid in 2012 of $1,538, I am guessing this home was purchased in the late 70's/early 80's and probably in the $100k range. Ruscio seemed to live a modest despite being a celebrity and the Encino home looks like the "average SFV ranch home." I personally enjoyed watching Ruscio as a child who seemed to not have any specific memorable roles which made him so flexible to appear on numerous TV shows.
