The always informative Lauren Beale at LAT Hot Property first revealed back on March 27, 2014 that film producer and CEO of Hyde Park Entertainment, Ashok Amritraj, listed his Sherman Oaks home for $2,199,900 on February 17, 2014 and at the time of this writing has been reduced by $200,000 to $1,999,900 with no buyers after sitting on the market for 89 days.

Amritraj was originally a professional tennis player representing India over a nine-year career that included visits to Wimbledon and the US Open. Amritraj switched careers in 1984 and became an internationally renowned award winning producer with over 100 films grossing worldwide in excess of $2 billion and has worked with Hollywood's biggest like Bruce Willis, Sandra Bullock Sylvester Stallone, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Aniston, Nicolas Cage, Robert DeNiro and many more. Starting in 1984, he worked on films that I never heard of like Fleshburn and Smart Alec. He later produced more recognizable films like Double Impact (1991), The Boondock Saints (1999), Get Carter (2000), What's the Worst That Could Happen? (2001), Bringing Down the House (2003), Machete (2010), and Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (2011). Also, Ashok produced a lot of the soft core porn films that would be shown on Cable TV's HBO and Cinemax in the early 90's like Night Eyes, Electra, and Scorned which would propel his career.

On a related note, Amritraj has two brothers who also reside in the SFV and were former tennis professionals that were the first to represent India (and they all have tennis courts at their homes). Vijay Amritraj lives in Encino and is also best known for plyaing MI6 agent Vijay in the 1983 James Bond film Octopussy. Vijay's son, Prakash, also played professional tennis representing India and graduated from USC. The second brother, Anand, lives in Calabasas with his son Stephen also becoming a pro playing at Crespi High School in Encino.

The home measures 5 Beds/6 Baths on 4,381 sqft on a total lot size of 1.09 acres built in 1973. The listing description states:
Seller has reduced to sell. Fabulous Gated Pool and Tennis Court Estate with plush grounds. Through the front gate you will find a large courtyard that can easily accommodate parking for 10 cars. This single story ranch style home brings you close to nature with serene grounds and an abundance of privacy and oak trees. The home boast 4 bedrooms, 5.5 bathrooms, maids quarters, exercise room/home office, family room with wet bar, entertainer's living room with vaulted ceilings and fireplace, remodeled gourmet kitchen with new appliances, cabinets and granite counter tops, large master bedroom. An entertainers dream as you sit in the beautifully lit private patio outside the family room and living room. This makes you feel right at home as your family and guests relax under the peaceful surroundings. The pool is gated for young children that can easily be removed. There is a built-in BBQ close to the kitchen. To finish off this one of a kind estate, is a lighted tennis court and covered viewing area.
This home was last purchased on August 4, 1993 for $750,000 which if sold at the current asking price of $1,999,900 would result in a gain of $1,249,900 before any expenses like taxes, commissions, renovations, and carrying costs.

The reason that Ashok is selling because he recently purchased a Bel Air home where he previously lived before moving to the above mentioned Sherman Oaks home in 1993 so its like he has gone full circle.
