Celebrity Real Estate: Charlie Sheen's Ex Brooke Mueller Flips Former Spice Girls Home in Tarzana

[Update January 9, 2013]: This home sold for $3,150,000 on January 7, 2013 which was completed in roughly two months. The sale represents a $150,000 gain from when Mueller purchased it for $3 million which actually represents a loss for Mueller based on a 6% commission equating to $189,000 or a $39,000 loss. Maybe Mueller worked something out with the listing agent to reduce the commission to just break even. I dont understand why she would buy in March and then sell in January.

The always hilarious Your Mama at the Realestalker has just divulged the latest gossip on the former Tarzana home of Melanie Brown who also goes by Scary Spice of the Spice Girls. This home was sold back on March 16, 2012 (which was discussed here) apparently to Brooke Mueller at a $159,000 loss for $3.0 million.

Mueller hoisted the home back on the market on November 15, 2012 for $3,550,000. The only thing that surprises me here is that this home which is currently under escrow was able to garner interest with an asking price that was $500,000 higher than what it sold for barely 8 months ago. Additionally, the previous listing  by Brown mentioned that the home had undergone a $1 million renovation so I am not sure what has changed since Mueller acquired the property especially with the listing pictures looking exactly the same from when Brown listed the property. 

At any rate, I am sure I am missing something and if this home sells at the current asking price, Mueller stands to gain $550,000 before taxes, commissions, carrying costs (if any), and renovation costs. Even if she were to spend $200,000, she would be earning $250,000 which is not bad for several months of work.

[Update March 26, 2012]: This home sold for $3 million on March 16, 2012 after originally being listed at $3,450,000 and sitting on the market for roughly 3 months. This sale also represents a loss to Melanie Brown and Stephen Belafonte of $159,000 not including other expenses associated with the property. What I failed to mention in the original post is that this home was sold due to a divorce between Brown and Belafonte, hence the reason for the loss and quick sale after only living in it for less than 3 years.

Hot off the presses from the always informative Lauren Beale of the L.A. Times Hot Property comes word of Singer Melanie Brown aka Scary Spice of the Spice Girls and producer husband Stephen Belafonte have listed their Tarzana estate on January 12, 2012 for $3.45 million.

Melanie Brown is an actress, author, singer-songwriter, and television presenter. She is mostly known for being a member of the Spice Girls known as Scary Spice. She also goes by the name of Melanie B. Her husband, Stephen Belafonte, is a producer having produced The Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call - New Orleans as well as the reality show based on her wife titled, Mel B: It's A Scary World. One random note while researching for this post, Mel B had a daughter with Eddie Murphy on Eddie's 46th birthday. Got love Hollywood!

According to the listing, this 5 Bed/7.5 Bath home on 8,204sqft on 0.6 acres which built in 1965 but undergone a recent $1 million renovation states:

Mel B and Belafonte purchased this home on September 24, 2009 for $3,159,000 and appear to be selling for a small profit when factoring commissions and other expenses. I believe the recent $1 million dollar upgrade stated in the listing was completed prior to Mel B and Belafonte's purchase seeing  how they barely lived in the home for around 2 years. But I am just speculating so dont quote me.

Some other random notes about this property:

1. The reality star Kendra and her husband, former NFL player, Hank Baskett, rented a home across the street from Mel B while filming their reality show, Kendra. The Realestalker covered that back in April 2010 and Kendra mentioned it in her book, Being Kendra: Cribs, Cocktails, And Getting My Sexy Back.  She basically described how much fun they had together and they would play games together and openly talk about sex stuff. Yes, you read that correctly. 
2. Mel B was sued by a real estate appraiser over alleged assault who supposedly at the time was taking pics of her home to appraise similar homes in the area.
