An architectural Studio City home once owned by Star Wars actor Hayden Christensen is back on the market for $4.795 million, little more than a year after its last sale.
The five-bedroom, five-bathroom residence sits on approximately three-quarters of an acre along a private Studio City hillside road. Published property information describes 6,302 square feet across three levels, with an elevator, a pool and spa, and a primary suite that occupies the entire top floor.
Postmodern Architecture With a Scandinavian-Inspired Update
Built in 1990, the house was designed by Los Angeles architects Matlin and Dvoretsky. Its postmodern exterior gives way to bright, gallery-like rooms described in marketing materials as Scandinavian-inspired.
Wide-plank oak floors, large picture windows and Fleetwood sliding doors help soften the home's dramatic proportions. On the main level, a sunken living room flows into a generous dining area and a chef's kitchen equipped with Thermador appliances. A sculptural staircase provides the visual centerpiece, while the elevator offers a more direct route between floors.
The ground level also contains an office that can serve as a fifth bedroom, a pool bathroom, a laundry room and a discreet powder room. Even the attached three-car garage is finished, giving the property additional flexible space.
A Full-Floor Primary Retreat
Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large den occupy the second level. The den opens to a private balcony and could function as a media room or an informal family space.
The primary suite takes over the third floor. It includes a kitchenette, two walk-in closets, a second laundry area and a spa-style bathroom with a steam shower. A private terrace looks out toward the treetops and distant city views.
The separation gives the suite the feel of a self-contained retreat, while the elevator makes the vertical floor plan more practical than a typical three-story hillside house.

The approximately 0.78-acre property is arranged around several outdoor gathering spaces. A swimming pool and spa anchor the grounds, while an intimate dining courtyard has its own pizza oven. Water features and mature landscaping reinforce the sense of privacy.
The home also includes a Control4 smart-home system and multiple balconies and lounging areas. Its position near Laurel Canyon places it between Studio City and Hollywood, combining a secluded setting with access to both the Valley and the city side of the hills.
Hayden Christensen Put the Home on the Market in 2012
The celebrity connection is well documented. The Los Angeles Times reported in October 2012 that Christensen had listed the Studio City house for $2.65 million. At the time, the newspaper described a five-bedroom modern residence with high ceilings, three fireplaces, an elevator, a saltwater pool and a three-car garage.
Public records show the property had changed hands in 2003 for $1.425 million. After Christensen's 2012 offering was reduced to $2.495 million, the property was withdrawn from the market in March 2013 without a recorded sale.
Christensen is best known for playing Anakin Skywalker in Star Wars: Episode II — Attack of the Clones and Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith. He later returned to the role in the Disney+ series Obi-Wan Kenobi and Ahsoka.
Back on the Market After a $4.345 Million Sale
The property returned to the market in May 2024 at $4.7 million. Following a later price adjustment to $4.5 million, it sold on June 12, 2025, for $4.345 million.
Its new $4.795 million asking price is $450,000, or about 10.4 percent, above that sale price. At the current advertised 6,302 square feet, the asking price works out to approximately $761 per square foot.
For buyers, the home's draw goes beyond its Hollywood history. The architecture, large hillside lot and unusually private top-floor suite give it a distinct identity in a market crowded with newer contemporary construction. Christensen's connection may provide the headline, but the house's cinematic sense of scale supplies the lasting impression.
Another San Fernando Valley Home With Rachel Bilson
Christensen also owned a notable Sherman Oaks property with actress Rachel Bilson. The couple purchased the secluded midcentury ranch in late 2012 for just under $2.7 million and sold it in an off-market deal in April 2017 for $3.8 million. Property records identified the buyer as Barry Perlman, a co-founder of Lucky Brand.
Built in the early 1950s, the approximately 3,000-square-foot, single-story house had four bedrooms and four-and-a-half bathrooms. Interior designer Kishani Perera helped renovate the residence, giving its open-plan rooms a relaxed California character. Large windows framed panoramic San Fernando Valley views, while the living room opened directly to the yard and pool.
The grounds were designed for private outdoor entertaining, with a swimming pool and inset spa, a koi pond, a pergola-covered patio, and a wet bar and grilling station with a pizza oven. The primary suite also opened to the pool, reinforcing the home's indoor-outdoor layout.
A Property-Record Trail With More Questions Than Answers
A property-history report reviewed for this article lists Tove Christensen as the buyer in 2003 and the seller in 2025. Tove is Hayden Christensen's older brother and his partner in the film-production company Forest Park Pictures, which was publicly associated with the residence. That record trail adds context to the home's connection with Hayden, although it does not by itself establish who occupied the residence or for how long.
The same report identifies Marcia A. Glow as the 2003 seller and Richard Mann as the 2001 seller. Those names may resemble people connected with the entertainment industry, but a name match is not sufficient to establish identity. No reliable source reviewed for this article confirms that either recorded owner is the performer or family member suggested by online searches, so those possible connections should remain research leads rather than published claims.
