Fresh on the MLS is the Sherman Oaks home of Major League Baseball's reigning king of hits, Pete Rose, which was listed for $2,150,000 on October 17, 2013.

For those that know, Pete Rose is a baseball legend with active records for the most hits (4,256), games played, (3,562), at-bats (14,053), and outs (10,328). He won three World Series rings, three batting titles, one MVP award, two Gold Gloves, the Rookie of the Year Award, and appeared in 17 All-Star games at five different positions. His first game was on April 8, 1963 for the Cincinnati Reds and his last game was on August 17, 1986 for the same team.

Despite his list of accomplishments, Rose's legacy took a nose dive when he was discovered to have bet on baseball games including games that he managed for the Cinnicinatti Reds from 1985 - 1987. As part of a settlement with the MLB in 1989, Rose agreed to be placed on MLB's permanent ineligibility list which prevents Rose from entering the hall of fame and retiring his jersey number with the Reds although the Reds have not issued his jersey number to anyone since that incident. There is a possiblity that he may be re-instated into the sport which would bring back many privileges including the ones mentioned above but the possibility seems unlikely.

In 2004, Rose wrote a tell-all book, My Prison Without Bars, where he admitted to betting on baseball in the hopes of bringing this controversial story to an end. That idea sort of backfired as Rose was criticized for admitting to sports betting after denying it for 15 years in order to be inducted into the hall of fame which was going to be announced two days after his book was released which many questioned the timing.

Today, Rose earns a living selling autographs at the Mirage Casino in Las Vegas and reportedly earns a cool million signing his name away 15 to 25 days out of the month for 12 months especially during convention time according to a WSJ article published on May 30, 2013

In addition to signing autographs, Rose also has a reality show called Pete Rose: Hits & Mrs., that premiered on TLC on January 14, 2013 which follows Rose and his girlfriend, Kiana Kim, who is a Playboy model. Prior to meeting Kiana Kim, Rose was married to Carol J. Woliung in 1984 and divorced in March 2011.

The property records show Carol and Pete as co-owners so its possible that Pete Rose hasnt lived in this home for many years as he earns his living in Vegas while Carol and Pete may have decided to part ways with this home and downsize.

The home measures 6 Beds/4.75 Baths on 4,719 sqft on a total lot size of 10,400 sqft built in 1999. The listing description states:
A truly remarkable "Celebrity" owned estate. Gated front courtyard entrance. Custom designed contemporary Spanish architecture with intricate detailing throughout. Elegant and sophisticated, the perfect family or entertainers home. Enter a stunning grand foyer with huge open floor plan. There is a small separate additional structure. A grand master suite with magnificent balcony overlooks the grounds and a spiral staircase leads to the lower level. An Italian curved wrought iron railing leads to a loft and the 2nd level. 6 bedrooms, 5 baths, family room, formal dining, study/office, 3 car garage. Prime location, within walking distance to places of worship and schools. Easy access to downtown, studios, westside and all amenities. Must see to appreciate this unique one-of-a kind estate.
Rose purchased this property on October 19, 1999 for $913,500 and stands to earn $1,236,500 before expenses if sold at today's asking price. It appears that Rose's residence is in Vegas with no other known residences at this time. I hate to see a legend leave the SFV but it sounds like he left a long time ago.
