Celebrity Real Estate: Legendary Writer-Producer for Johnny Carson and Bill Cosby Lists Sherman Oaks Mansion
[Update October 17, 2013]: This home was purchased by Heidi Klum for $9,875,000 on October 1, 2013 which finally sold after sitting on the market for close to 3 years and after a massive reduction of $5 million when it was originally listed on October 21, 2010 for $15 million. Weinberger's new home is unkown but hopefully he still calls the SFV home (although some will argue he was on the LA side of Mulholland). You can view Heidi Klum's post here.

Edwin Weinberger first started writing for The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson and The Bill Cosby Show in the late 60's and early 70's. He also wrote for The Bob Hope Show and The Dean Martin Variety Hour. He teamed with other legendary screenwriters, James L. Brooks, David Davis, Allan Burns, and Stan Daniels to form the MTM creative team which won numerous awards. They would work on The Mary Tyler Moore Show, Phyllis, Doc, and The Betty White Show into the 70's. In 1978, the MTM group left Paramount pictures to form the John Charles Walters Company which produced the successful sitcom, Taxi. Weinberger would also go on to produce and/or write, Mr. Smith, Dear John, The Cosby Show (80's version), Amen, and Baby Talk. He has won a Peabody Award, 3 Golden Globe Awards, and 9 Emmy Awards. He has also received the Writer’s Guild Lifetime Achievement Award. For further info on Edwin Weinberger, I recommend visiting The Museum of Broadcast Communications, Wikipedia, and IMDB.

Imagine living in your own private park: here is a spectacular and extremely rare approx. 5-acre estate in Bel Air's exclusive Stone Ridge community. Wrapped in privacy, this magnificent Georgian-style residence tops its own promontory at the end of a long, private drive, behind two sets of gates. Incomparable views overlook canyons, mountains and the wide sweep of the San Fernando Valley. Constructed in 2000 with impeccable attention to detail, the estate comprises approx. 11,000 square feet of living space in the main residence, plus separate one-bedroom guesthouse approx. 1000sf. Luxury abounds, with exquisite detailing, gorgeous floors, abundant light and view decks: two-story entry and grand-scale family room, media room with bar, music room, gym, two offices and wine cellar. Five bedrooms, eight baths including lavish master suite with dual baths and dressing rooms. Spectacular grounds include outdoor entertaining area with kitchen, plus pool, wide lawn and room for tennis court. This home was last purchased in 1996 for $1.1 million which I am guessing was an all land purchase since the property records indicate that the home was built in the year 2000. Prior to this home purchase, Edwin Weinberger sold a 7 Bed/7 Bath mansion in the Hancock Park (see image below) area for $2,150,000 on January 6, 1995 which coincides with the purchase of the Sherman Oaks home. I am not sure where he lived during the construction of his Sherman Oak home but its possible he lived in the Beverly Hills/Bel Air area which is close to the Sherman Oaks home.
