Hot off the presses from the busy folks at Blockshopper comes word of Donald Penn II's purchase of a mansion short sale in Encino for $3,275,000 on March 27, 2012.
Donald Penn II is an offensive tackle for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers who was originally signed by the Minnesota Vikings as an undrafted free agent in 2006. He was born in LA and graduated from Saint Bernard Catholic High School in 2001 in Playa del Rey. He played college football at Utah State. In 2011, he was named to the Pro Bowl as a replacement for the Green Bay Packers tackle Chad Clifton whose team advanced to Super Bowl XLV.
According to the listing, the home measures 8 Beds/11.5 Baths on 11,000 sqft on a total lot size of 0.4 acres built in 2009:

This home was last purchased at the peak of the market on June 16, 2006 for $1,325,000 in what appears to be a land purchase where the investors built from the ground up sometime in 2008 when the world was going to implode. This home was later listed on the market on March 1, 2009 for $6,999,000 and dropped literally in half as a short sale at $3,275,000. Seems like a good deal considering its a brand new home with no expenses spared in which the bank(s) and investors took a big hit.
Other celebrities in this area include the former Clark Gable and Carole Lombard house now owned by Michael Milken, Eileen Brennan, The Jackson Family home, Ice Cube, Peter Marshall, and Pat Sajak.
